I had the opportunity to show many people their first view through a telescope on Fri and Sat nights - the Moon and Saturn. My little short tube 4" refractor - pushed to a whole 124 mag! (I must get a short fl, long eye relief eyepiece for it. Let's see what's in Icetrades.)
I just love the reactions. Very excited, they were.
Yep, the reactions of those who see the Moon or Saturn through a scope for the first time is usually one of genuine surprise and joy. I went up to Mt Coot-tha with BAS last night. The weather was fine, so all the members were kept busy at their scopes.
For a brief moment people seem to forget whatever else is going on in their lives and simply enjoy living in the moment.
I hear you Erik , here is a family I had around home a while ago , many firsts here as well . OOP's , second attempt , sorry.
But this makes it all worth while . Thanks Erik for the reminder and I hope you all can relate.
Brian.
