Cool Observing Hooded Vest

Dear all,

Check this out:

www.darkskiesapparel.com/hooded_vests.html

I am tempted to get one. Anyone out there tried one? If so, what do you think?

You missed your chance to make a buck out of astronomy, Ron!

Can you post a picture of what you are using? I would be interested to see your solution.

I have, from time to time, used a black towel, and draped it over my head etc. I have never persisted because it would not stay in position - the towel would always end up flopping down over the eyepiece/my face.

Good to hear from you, Peter! Maybe you could become a distributer in Australia? I'd buy one with an SDM logo emblazened on it!

I have been thinking about getting one of these myself...I'll probably wait until spring. I've read several people's comments and they speak very highly of them.

Cheers,

Hi John,

Postage to Australia is US$37 for one hood, and exactly that same for 2. (I tried the cart with the two options). So, we would save almost $20 each if we do a combined order.

I am likely to place an order. You seriously interested?

Hi Scott, bit cold for you at the moment, eh?

Assuming I order one, I will let you know how it goes.

Definately interested Rod. Anna would also like one if they come one size smaller.

John, on the Dark Skies Apparel website they only speak of two sizes being available, Regular and Extra Large. The Regular is designed for all but the chubbiest. I think Anna will be stuck with a Regular.

Yes, it seems it is $36.99 postage for one or two, then jumps up to $44.99 for three. Total cost of order for three is $269.99 incl postage, or $90 apiece. Will PM you John.

Found on Cloudy Nights, this thread debating, ad nauseum, with lots of photos, the ins and outs of this product:

http://www.cloudynights.com/ubbthrea...fpart/all/vc/1

I am convinced, and will be placing an order in the next few days.

Peter Read has even agreed to send me an SDM badge to sew on it!

I'd be interested in getting a solar one. Let me know if you need an extra punter.

Hi Peter, sorry I missed your post! I have already ordered....a set of three (one for me, and two for John and Anna).

I will post a model shot of myself with it on, once it arrives!

Cheers,
