Time lapse-Stars over Paddock.

Hello.

Took 470 frames with the Canon 50D and 17-55 F 2.8 lens at 17 mm,thirty second frames with one second between.My son help make the little time lapse video-16 second.

This is our first attempt at this,some how the aspect ratio is not what he wanted.But it turned out-will put some music to next one.

Any advice,or critique would be good.As hope to do this again,it was a moon light night when we did this one,so may not be proper astronomy grade,sorry.

Was thinking if,I plonked my GP mount in paddock and had motors going,and it was not at all PA.might get some interesting view going???

I see Fred Basetts amazing time lapse at star camp,he had some unusual machine/program to 'move' camera over the period images taken.So just thinking on that-which gave me idea.

Anyhow-looking at gathering lots of frames from a beach side appartment,where there is a shipping channel,and good sea/sky night views.

So thanks for looking and any pointers.

the time lapse view looks good but its squished and not proportional

Yes,the aspect ratio,did not work out as expected.
Certainly appears to be a lot of after image work in
these projects.Any other feed back most welcomed.

Not sure if I'll be doing too many of these projects.
Might give a go looking of a rocky headland over the
sea,went to coast last week with this in mind,But the wind
and rain was so strong-I got blown away!

What ISO were you using - was expecting more stars.

I've seen interesting results where someone used an Alt-Az mount and held down the left or right key turning the mount at guiding speed. The movement wasn't enough to blur the image, but it panned gradually during the evening. Needs something interesting in the foreground really get bang for your buck when doing this.
