Post Oops - Mythbusters accidentally shoot cannonball through house and van

News services in the United States are reporting that yesterday evening in
Dublin, California, whilst filming an episode at a bomb range, a cannon that
the Mythbusters crew had built fired a cannonball which accidentally went astray.

But the damage was not yet done as the cannon ball crashed through the house on one side and exited through another.

The occupants of the home were sleeping at the time, and were not hurt.
The cannonball then plummeted into the minivan, breaking one of its
windows and finally coming to a stop inside.
Luckily no one was physically injured.

Hopefully the Mythbusters will receive a Presidential pardon.

Ooop.

Thankfully no one was hurt.

How far did it travel? The article says 700ft, the video clip says 2 miles.

Hopefully it doesn't stop their bangs.

Wow imagine living only 700 feet from a bomb range..... Sounds odd that someone would be living that close....

The 'lets blow it up anyway' stuff got boring about 5 years ago.

Their ratings are flagging, this is likely just a publicity stunt.

I saw it on Sunrise this am, wow, could have been disasterous. Luckily we canhave a laugh over it in the end.
They will certainly have to ease back on a few of their experiments now.

No doubt they will Trevor.

After all it's the ratings that drive these shows or they are dropped pretty quickly.

If someone had of been injured or killed that would be another matter.

I am offering my place as a new test site. Just what the bogons over the back need. A canonball through their house, or head not really fussy.

Mythbusters, has certainly had some very interesting stories in years gone by.By far the best was the one about the escape from 'The Rock',where two prisoners collected rain coats and hid them in the roof, and somehow made an inflatable boat, they then made a hand pump-making all this in the dark over many nights, eventually the made good their escape (on a new moon).

The Mythbusters made a similar boat out of the same rain coats, and inflated it and they did get some distance from 'The Rock'. The prisoners bodies were never found,it did appear plausible that what the did could be achieved.

I found this most fascinating,I'd like to see more stories of this nature, rather than the guns, canons and explosions-which do seem more frequent these days.(and somewhat tiresome).

As to those prisoners fumbling around in the dark making that boat and making a purposeful advance on a project-well I can't help but feel they would have made great amateur astronomers!
