Black Snake in Coonabarabran

Hello again,

Another photo from my last Coonabarabran trip.

This is my first attempt at the Snake Nebula.

I had problems with the colours...hope I got it right.

Thanks for looking.

I like this rendition. The "shades of black" to me are what makes it. If you know what I mean. LOL

That's a good description of what makes a dark neb image special, JJJ.

Great image, Ross!

Cheers,
Rick.

Hi Ross,

That's a lovely image of the Snake Nebula.

Gary Kopff from Wildcard Innovations got an excellent image of a "black snake" on a trip to Coonabarabran about 18 months ago. Gary got a first hand image of a little black snake in his room at the Warrumbungles Mountain Motel early one morning, at about 8am; from a couple of feet away It was only about a foot long and Gary being the nature lover that he is cajoled it out of his room and into some nearby bushes

The only thing I found unnerving about the whole thing was that his and Mai's room was in very close proximity to mine and Andrew Murrell's

Cheers,
John B

Hi Marc,

Glad you like it. I was a bit unsure about the balance of colours.

Thanks for the comments.

Hi Jeanette,

Yes, it is the "blacks" that make the photo. I have seen some shots by other people with a deep, velvety black that really stand out.

I tried many versions with this shot, but I just don't have the Photoshop skills yet, so I'm glad you liked it.

Thanks.

Ross.

Thank you Carl.

I do have a fear of snakes so summer time in Coonabarabran is always a "cautious" time for me.

Thanks Rick.

Yes, nailing the "blacks" is the way to a great photo. I tried many versions and I still have a long way to go.

Ross.

Hi John,

Glad you like my photo, but I'm not too happy with the snake story.
I have a fear of snakes so I will now be checking under the beds and in every corner of the room next time I stay at Coonabarabran!

Thanks a lot

Ross.
