Blue Star telescope adaptor

Does anyone have comments regarding the Blue Star wireless telescope adaptor. I believe its compatible with many common celestial software packages. The supplier 'Starry Night' says that this adaptor connects to the telescope hand control RS232 port, if your using a celestron scope. Not sure about others, but would assume likewise.

I suppose my Q is Whats the point? If you connect to your scope via the HC, complete remote control, Nexremote, of the scope is not possible. The only way, I think, would be to convert RS232 signals down to TTL for direct connection to the motor control.

Hi Nico

I think that the Blue Star device is aimed at the cordless connection market, using Bluetooth. Using it means one less cable between ‘scope and computer.

I use a Socket Cordless Serial Adapter which is a Bluetooth RS232 adapter that allows me to control my mount using TheSky Pocket Edition on a PDA (hand held computer).

Cheers

Dennis
