Maybe selling some gear. What price?

I'm totally spoiled by my new gear and highly doubt I will ever be motivated to use my old gear, which is only a year old and has seen little use (given our incredibly crummy weather). May I ask what price you think it's reasonable to ask for this equipment?

HEQ5 Pro with manuals and all original accessories + Pelican 1600 case.

Skywatcher ED100 f9 Black Diamond with Red Moolite focuser (and original focuser) + original finder scope + standard Aluminium case. (no eyepieces or diagonal)

The mount and scope are both in nearly new condition.

Thanks,

Peter

Peter it is always hard to price used gear.

Many second hand dealers sell good quality used gear at 2/3rds the price of new, average condition used goods at around 1/2 price of new.

If yours is immaculate, you might be justified asking 3/4 new price.
In the end it is up to purchasers. Are they willing to pay 3/4 price for used?

Hi Peter,

With that setup and accessories, I would say that $2K might be a good point to start.

you can pick up a new HEQ5 pro for around $1149, and ED100 for about the same but with the case and the moonlite, maybe add about $300?

So, I would say, start at $2200 and work from there...some pics would help things too, especially if its mint condition.

Give that a go.

Chris

Personally I've found that 2/3 of new price is about what's needed to get a sale for gear in excellent condition.

If someone is particularly chasing what you're selling you might get more, though it seems lately that items often need to get to bargain prices before they sell. With our strong dollar perhaps many have already made new purchases and there has been a greater supply of used gear than usual.
