I remember building the same thing 30 years ago Great effort, I love Lego so the simple way you can rebuild your ideas.

Next try a Cylon warship or the snowspeeder from Empire Strikes Back

We might have to start a dedicated Lego thread.

Lego is for people with five thumbs on each hand.
Meccano is for real men!

Lego and Meccano. These toys played a big part in my childhood, and I still collect them today. I hope they never disappear. Just timeless!

Just for interest: here's some great links for Lego:

Nice Construct!

here even using Lego to teach children, my youngest son just received a special invite from school to be involved in designing, programming and building robots and they will be using Lego as the modelling.

That's interesting. The same project was held at our local school 2 years ago. I was asked to get involved but when I saw what it was all about I decided to give it a miss.

They supplied the Lego and the kids, divided into teams, were given an object (aim). They had to develop a program to control the models (robots) they built over a course to a set program idea. It was an interschools thing and my young neighbour won it for the school.

Sounds like the same program Barry. For a young fella seems quite a good starting point, would like to see how it evolves.

Maybe when he gets older he will do robotics as a profession, my other son is more interested in Geology and other land based professions, so I am spreading myself thin to keep up with it all.

I second the motion!

Loved Lego growing up! I remember as a kid growing up in Adelaide, looking forward to the yearly Lego Show that use to be held at John Martin's then later at Myer's. It was fantastic seeing all the creations and then buying some new kits with the money I had saved up for the ocassion. Loved the space sets and also the medieval sets of which I think my parents still have somewhere in the shed back home.

Use to spend endless hours creating/playing with Lego.

Great Viper!

I used to love the lego exhibitions. My son is just starting to get into lego, and the younger one is really into duplo. The older one is quite talented at designing his own models, but I am hopeless and need to copy something!

Thats a great ship! I would love to be able to scratch build from lego like that.

We just finished building the Milennium falcon (kit, not scratch) and our next project is the Phoenix from Gatchaman but we need to get hold of some more blue bricks and draw up some plans.

I love meccano as well but my boys are still too young for the tricky little nuts and bolts (3 and 5).
