Cubby House Observatory

Hi All

My daughters have grown out of the backyard cubby house so I decided to turn it into an observatory to house my 16" dob. Attached are some pictures of the finished product which works really well. Th gable roof was split in 2 and hinged on one side. When open the roof actually does a great job of shielding lights from the house as well.

I'm a visual variable star observer and even though I'm constrained to observing variables above 45 deg elevation, there are so many to follow, that I never notice this restriction!

So for any of you whose kids have grown out of the cubby house, it does have some uses!

Looks like a great modification, and well disguised too!

I'm already eyeing off my daughters' fort for the future basis of an observatory. They're only 6 & 4, so it will be a while before they outgrow it - part of me is sad about this, and part of me isn't.
