Jupiter 23rd May at Sunrise

Here's Jupiter this morning, processed a number of different ways. Seeing was OK for the elevation.

Cheers,

Tom

Nice results Tom. Maybe something half way between the first and last pic would be right?

Good attempt Tom. Can't wait until it gets 30 degrees plus here.

Nice work Tom. One thing I've always noticed in your images it the RGB misalignment.

Your images, even your best, would be improved if you re-aligned the colour channels so they all lined up.

Do you use photoshop, or astraimage?

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the comments. I use Registax (5 or 6 depending what I want to achieve) and Photoshop. I have found that the RGB alignment estimate provided by Registax is better than I can do by my own estimation in Photoshop, and have been using that for quite a while now. It probably doesn't help that I shoot at things so low in the sky either.

Cheers,

Tom

Using Photoshop, you can click on the 'channels' tab, bottom left hand corner.

Then use the 'move' hand, selecting the Red and the Blue channels and move them to line up with the Green channel.

See how you go!

Definitely low in the sky will affect it more, but you can still fix it.

Cheers

They look good Rob : ). Can I send you my stacked tif (no wavelets etc)? I'd be interested in seeing what you can do with it.

Mike, I did try moving the Photoshop channels but found that Registax does a better job than me. I notice that with the settings I use in camera, the blue channel is quite pronounced and lends an overall haze to the image which makes it hard to appear aligned properly.
Cheers,

Tom
