Stellarium

I tried installing V10.5 and 10.4 and both came up with an error after installing and trying to execute

"stellarium.exe has stopped working"

(I uninstalled and reinstalled, installed as Admin and tried compatibility mode etc)

V10.6 worked fine

anyone else had issues

need 4 or 5 to try out the latest version of Stellarium Scope as yet doesn't recognise 10.6

Just installed V10.6 and it has a very jittery display on my Dell laptop with full High Def screen.
Will have to look at it some more over the next couple of days.

Hi
Stellarium version 0.10.6.1 had some changes to the telescope drive module but they should not have affected the ASCOM interface. However ASCOM is a third party program not part of the Stellarium project so we do not have any control over its operation.

Since the release of 0.10.6.1 there have been a number of changes to the telescope drive module that may have fixed the problem. Try this patch:

http://sarcasmogerdes.dyndns.org/ste...-patch0107.zip

It will update Stellarium to the current state of development.

In regard to the jittery display. Check the FPS to ensure the OpenGL is working. Also check the Stellarium no OpenGL2 startup. Some display drivers have not caught up with the latest development of OpenGL.

You could also try the above patch. There have been some minor changes to the display since the release of 0.10.6.1

Barry

Just thought I'd report back on the flickering screen problem.
As it turns out it only does it in full screen mode, even after installing the latest patch as recommended by Barry it will still flicker when in full screen mode.

Works fine otherwise so I just don't use in full screen, this is running on a 64 bit Windows 7 Pro Dell with full HD screen 6 gig ram and intel i5 2.53Ghz and an ATI 4670 HD radion video card so the machine will handle it but maybe it's something to do with the 64 bit side of things that it doesn't like.

Don't know but as I found it's ok otherwise so will continue like that in normal screen mode.

Ken

On my notebook running with OpenGL2 disabled fixes all the font rendering problems, and the frame rate is still reasonable.

Installed the 10.6 Stellarium yday, but cant find my comets.
Would it have wiped them off, or perhaps I have forgotton where to look.
My Computer - stellarium - data- ssystem ... and there is not much there on the ' notebook'.
Quite possibly my error, but wanting to find Comet C/2011 in the morning.

Do you mean 10.6.1, Liz?

Which 2011 comet?

P/2011 A1 (Larson)
P/2011 A2 (Scotti)
C/2011 A3 (Gibbs)
P/2011 A4 = P/2006 U1 (LINEAR)
C/2011 C1 (McNaught)
P/2011 C2 (Gibbs)
C/2011 C3 (Gibbs)
P/2011 E1 (SOHO)
C/2011 F1 (LINEAR)
C/2011 G1 (McNaught)

<F2> -> 'Plugins' -> 'Solar System Editor' -> 'configure' -> 'Solar System' -> 'Import orbital etc'
'Comet'
'Download ...'
'Select bookmark ...' -> 'MPC's list of observble comets'
'Get ...'
'Overwrite' or 'Update' as you choose
'Mark all'
'Add objects'

The process is similar for asteroids.

You can use the 'Online search', but you have to get the name exactly right. eg '2011 gp59' doesn't work. '2011 GP59' does.
