M35

I am slowly getting through the processing the data I collected on my recent trip to north Thailand and here is today's offering.

This is M35 with its smaller companion NGC2158. I collected 30 minutes in each of RGB in 3 minute subs. Sorry to any purists but I added some diffraction spikes to add some interest.

Thanks for looking.

Nice shot

Stars look nice and round right across the field...round enough for my liking. Good colour too

That's excellent Rob, lovely image, the contrasting clusters makes for a great shot and you have handled the processing very well

Maybe add some phsycedelic colours though....

Mike

As a predominately visual observer (Deepspace) I look foward each year to viewing these two items together. Great to see the colour version.

Thanks a lot for the comment. I see you want to find the demons in the closet... The link below is a full res image. It has only been cropped to remove stacking artifacts.

M35 full res

Edited to add: sorry I lied. It is not quite full res. I just remembered I had to reduce the image size to get the right number of stars with spikes on. At full res too many stars were given spikes.

Couldn't you duplicate the layer before adding the spikes, add the spikes to the top layer, then selectively mask them in?

Still very nice. Better at a larger resolution. Thanks for doing that.

Very nice shot of this cluster Rob. Actually I think this is one image where the star spikes work okay.

Cheers

Steve
