andrews "super-ultra wide"

Hi all,

anyone given these a spin?
apart from seeing how many words they can fit into the name to represent "big" are they any good? any compares to a ethos or Explorer scientific?

Ah, the pineapple eyepiece has arrived in Australia! Been waiting to see one of these. Don't know about the view through it, but I think they look really great!

First pic from Andrews site. Second - the 16mm as sold in USA - Zhumell branded.

Yes, I keep looking at the 9mm and 20mm ES bundle for USD800 - but my wife wants a portable airconditioner before the heat of summer. I think I know where my leave loading will be spent

That's the most ugly E.P's I've ever seen..................but I'm sort of superficial towards that sort of thing.

Jenny,....... that appearance would ruin the looks of my Tasco refractor.....wouldn't it?

Where's the release pin to make it blow up???

Sorry to hijack, but I bought a portable and they're really not very good.
A window mount job would be so much better.

If we are going to debate the merits of air con, we'd better do it in another thread.

I had a look at these at Andrews a couple weeks back. Its enormous like most 2" eyepieces but it was surprisingly light weight. If you were to put that into a focuser of a decent sized dob, I'd be surprised if you had to change any tension knobs or counter weights!

By the way, with the new sale prices, resistance was futile - so I bought the ES 14mm 100deg.

(and an air conditioner! So we are both happy!)
