James Dibble dead

RIP Mr Dibble. You delivered sensibly articulated news to my family for decades.

Did you catch the look of shock on Juanita Phillips' face when she made the announcement late on the 7pm news?

RIP James Dibble. He was the first newsreader I can remember. The radio was always on 2BL where he read the news before he moved to TV. Wonderful enunciation and calm delivery.

Hi Chris & All,

James was the Doyen of all ABC newsreaders and like several others here, part of our childhood. He was straight out of the Bruce Menzies school of delivery -- absolutely straight and never missed a beat. Sad to see him gone.

Best,

Les D
