K3ccdtools Vs Nebulosity 2 assistance Please

Hi guys & Gals. I am still on that learning curve. I only know that co's I still can't get things to work like I want

I have been using the Paid version of K3ccdtools in it's basic form to take video on my Toucam and then I use Registax to stack the date. I have been getting better and better results the more I learn. However I do find the processing side of things a little bit more of Guess work. Dont really know what I am doing..

I have been reading about a program called Nebulosity 2. It costs around $60 so it's not exspensive. It claims to be targeted to the newbee as well as having the features that the smart Dudes need. Has anyone used it to advise if it allows for a more simple interface than K3ccdtools for capture and processing. I will in time start to dig deeper into software as my understanding expands.

I have a Modded long exposure toucam that I have modded. I don't have a problem with modding, Electronics etc, but the software often slows me down in the learning.

Appreciate advice.

Regards
Mardy

I think K3CCDTools is aimed more towards video camera recording of movie files for planetary imaging more-so than deep sky. At least that's what I use it for. I'm sure it's capable of deep sky stuff, but don't think it's as intuitive.

Nebulosity is more set up for deep sky, long exposure image capture of still cameras rather than video cameras.

I don't have any experience with long exposure modded webcams, so not sure how/where that would fit into the equation. I'm sure they'd be compatible with K3CCDTools, not sure about Neb.

I have nebulosity (on a MAC) & i like it for stacking, its fairly easy to use

its good for deep-sky - i have only just acquired a meade dsi pro (similar to toucam) & it registers it easy enough when i plug it in -(it means i don't have to use the crappy meade software)

i think there is a trial period - so if you have the toucam - download & try it to see if you like it
