Work Surprise

As you may or may not know (or remember or even care), I recently left work. In the last week of work I hurt my back and took time off with the proviso that I return to work for a couple of days to perform a "handover".

Well today I was in work and they threw me a "leaving" party. I kinda knew they would but though it would be tomorrow.

Anyway, after a nice lunch they presented me with a gift...

... not a watch...

... not a pen...

... but a 16GB WiFi iPad!!!

In the past 9 months I've gone from having no apple products to now having 3!

It was a big surprise and I was quite blown away. Am currently playing around with it, SkyVoyager and DSS Browser run beautifully on it... *drool*

Thanks guys, not bad for 22 years of service

Thanks Doug, the back is a lot better now thanks to a few weeks resting and vegging. I did it at an astro open night funnily enough, I lifted and twisted when setting up my scope even though I don't remember doing it differently from how I normally lift it, legs bent, back straight and no sidewards twisting.

Great parting gift Simon.
Must still be in shock after that.
Hope all goes well in the future.
Cheers Kev.

Hi Simon
You must have been a good employee (or were they glad to get rid of you). Congrats on your retirement?.

When I left work 20 years ago after 25 years they gave me a party, The standard aerial picture of the place (not a gold watch and chain), a golf bag and accessories.

In my retirement speech I made the mistake of volunteering for some part time work(big mistake). They took me up on that so I worked part time for another two years.

Then I got another leaving party and more golf accessories

I also got called back for a couple of three month periods on contract work. That was good money!

Barry

Thanks guys, back is almost back to normal, no heavy lifting yet but I don't have anything heavy that needs lifting

Hehe Barry, they've asked me to do some contract work for them which I may take up the offer if I don't end up finding another job before Christmas. A bit of extra cash is always handy. I hope you liked golf
