I'm submitting my moon picture. I took it with my Meade and my Pentax ist Ds DSLR. There's only a couple of problems that I can think of. 1. I need to do better in the focusing department. 2. My Meade, at afocal has a narrower field of view than the full .5 degree field I need for the moon.
Does anyone know of a good focal reducer of like .75 times that I could use for photographic use?
Also I kind of like those blue or slightly purple hues that some people give the moon. But I see that mine is slightly brown. I wish that could be better too. But I realize that that could probably be given falsely to the image with an image processing program (like Adobe CS2 or CS4, right?).
Hi David. There's some detail there. If your living in light polluted skies then the brown may be a white balance problem. The astropix sight as I recall talks about setting WB to obtain more natural colours. You can adjust the WB with Photoshop or something similar.
I don't think anyone falsley colours the moon. It's more in the exposure and other processing to bring out the details captured, but not just turning up the blue.
A slightly longer FL EP should get you the extra FOV you want.
