Melbourne CBD Accommodation ?

Hello Melbourne IIS members.

Please excuse my naivety, but I come from NSW.

Is there anyone who lives near the CBD who may have a room available for a travelling IIS member to rent for a couple of days?

Joanne and I are heading for a function at Federation Square on the night of September 5th.

Tried to book 2br apartment in the area but no luck (because bringing a Mum In Law too).

Alternatively, where would be the closest Caravan Park to this? And is public transport possible between the two late on a Sunday night (circa 9pm)

Hotels no good? Best if you want ready access to Fed Square. There's an Ibis and a Formula 1 in the city - both cheapies (well, relatively). Caravan parks? Hmm? Probably Hobsons Bay Caravan Park - about 15km from the CBD. You can probably get a bus down Kororoit Creek Road to North Williamstown station, and get train from there to the city. But a bus at 9pm - unlikely.
