Eqmod and the sky 6

Hi all,

Does anybody use the sky six to drive a eq6 through eqmod? It has a library of drivers but does not include eqmod, and it does not seem to support ascom.....

Or does anybody know where I could find a plugin/driver?

Thanks
Brett

Yeah I cdc as well, it works great.

Trouble is since I got my observatory fully automated and working with ascom I want to use ccd auto pilot to do imaging runs all night, and control the roof as well, and to do that I need to use the sky 6. And it doesnt want to play ball.

There is an ascom plugin for TheSky. I think you'll find it buried in amoungst the installed ascom files or look here -> http://ascom-standards.org/Downloads/Plugins.htm

That did it Robin, Thanks for you help.

Cant help but to think that software bisque should have been ascom compatible from the start instead of relying on ascom to make a 'hack' to make it work with the ascom platform....

IT works tho...

Thanks
Brett

This is the official view from Bisque:

http://www.bisque.com/ascom/

As mentioned above, you can make the connection between EQMOD and TheSky6, it just takes a bit of mucking around.

Looks like Software Bisque's owners have many axes to grind against "ASCOM" !!

Cheers

I have 2 questions on this issue

I'm looking at buying The Sky as it integrates with CCDSoft and a new program - MPO Connections - that I'm looking at. I'm presently using Starry Night with EQMOD.

Firstly, which version of The Sky has suitable telescope control - do you need The Professional Edition or will the Serious Astronomer do? There's a significant price difference.

Secondly, how does The Sky compare to SN Pro?

Don't know about the latest TheSky X; I use the V6 serious astronomer version and it does everything I need, telescope control etc.
One limitation which annoys me is that the SA version will not handle the USNO database (18mag stars etc)- you need the PE to do this....

Thanks Ken

yep, looks like the exy program does the business

Will chew on this - not sure I want to fork out for the box set from US - even though you can download the serious astronomer version
