Superb doco on BBC ( youtube in 6 parts ) on nature and Chaos. A concise historical treatment of the development of the scientific ideas that clearly negate the need for the concept of `intelligent design'.

Not only does Chaos Theory and Fractals with Evolution explain the developing complexity in the Universe and inevitably life. It completely negates any form of predeterminism or fate. Even the orbits of the planets are chaotic.
What is curious though at the quantum level this does not happen. I suppose when something's state is indeterminate already, it would be difficult to have any sort of meaningful feedback.
I loved Part 6 where it showed the accelerated `evolution' simulations. By combining evolving computer brains with a simple algorythm the human simulations were walking about and interacting in ways that were very familiar that had not been `programmed' with no deliberate quest for good `design'. Stunning doco.
