ISS plastic model kit

I was given this as a gift.A very fine quality 1:144 scale plastic model kit of the ISS. Comprised of 320 parts once assembled will be 30" X 22" X 15". Surely will keep me out of trouble for at least several weeks. So far completed a few compartments including the JEM Lab. Still learning the names of different modules.

That looks really good. Almost the right scale to go with my model trains. I'd only need to suspend it ~2Km above the track

That's very good Vincent! Although can you subscribe to get 'upgrades' for each time they put a new module or set of solar panels on?

Do you know where it was bought from and how much?

Apparently a same scale model of the space shuttle from Revell does fit into its docking system.

looks like a great model.
Hope it comes together well.
This is a model of the ISS that I purchase at frontline Hobbies in
Newcastle about 3 to 4 years ago.
These are not available now from Frontline or Hobbico in Sydney..
The space shuttle was not correct but I incuded it as well.
Thanks for your info on Intermountain I will chase the correct shuttle part..

yes Vincent. this was all included in the kit.Made by Revell.

keep the photos coming as it is built.
must admit you need lots of spare time for these kits.

Does anyone make a high quality scale model of the Space Shuttle? All I ever find a dodgy ones. I would like an official model if available...

I have also built a space shuttle. 1/72 scale - revell. looks good but the main mistake is that the area from the cockpit windows down to the nose is flat on this model . should be slightly curved like all the full sized craft. I purchased this model also from frontline hobbies in Newcastle.
you would have to contact them.
I have seen a few other brand kits, 1/72 scale floating around on the net for sale.
I am in the process of building a larger scale shuttle out of wood.I may use this to set up a mould to produce a few fibreglass shuttles somewhere down the track.1/72 scale is the biggest kit that you can buy.there are a few suppliers selling larger scales from the states but are already made up.. see SPACETOYS.COM for a start.

Forward compartment attached to main truss & US lab. Most parts are a bit too tight which needs a fair bit of filing down. So far very enjoyable building.
Anyone knows what colour is the main radiator? It is white out of the box but I think it should be silver or something.....

Truss and half the solar panels assembled as well as most of the main body. I have to use files and sand papers heavily because most parts are too big for a tight fit. Hardly used any cement. Very challenging project.

ISS completed

Well....just need some fine tuning and touching ups. Certainly a most challenging and fragile model to build.
Same scale Revell space shuttle on the way to dock with it.
