I just got back from the first two days of the star camp. I can't make it to the last two days because I'm in Hobart now for work, just got off the plane.
The first night was really good, we had clouds in the north for most of the night but Zenith stayed mostly clear and the south was clear the whole night other than right at the start. Man the sky was dark! Most people commented on how the magellanic clouds stood out, not just visible, they were big and bright.
2nd night was cloudy the whole night, but I spent most of the day using refractors to look at the wetlands and the the birds on the pylons/barges floating on the lake (yes there's a lake directly behind the bunkhouses!) this was awesome. Neil brought a WO ZenithStar 80 with a 2" dielectric diagonal and a 32mm televeiw and it was absolutely stunning. Most of the ooh's and ahh's came from this scope actually. Good stuff.
Tonight looks good and tomorrow looks better. Tust me (I'm not a second-hand car salesman) you should go! You'll be kicking yourself if you don't...
