Power Supply Blown

A couple of nights ago, while observing, there was a bright white flash from my power supply and everything died. It seems the cooling fan had worked its way loose and fallen on the circuit board. Fortunately, nothing was damaged, except the power supply. It was one of the 8amp powertech units from Jaycar. Just a warning, check for loos components every now and then.

As a consumer you shouldn't need to check these things. This typical of cheaper imports and manufacturing techniques now-a-days.

Bummer, how long have you had it? That unit has a 1 year warranty if you can find the receipt.
Have sold quite a few of these units and not had a problem yet.

I have had it a couple of years. I bought one of the 12 amp lab supply units as a replacement. Looks to have a tougher case and better build.
