Current edition cosmology/astrophysics books for sale:
1. The Cosmic Century: A History of Astrophysics and Cosmology (Malcolm Longair, 2006, 565 pages, Hardcover)
This book traces the history of cosmology through the 20th century giving a detailed account of the key discoveries and models developed for stars, galaxies and the universe. Suits readers with a reasonable knowledge of astronomy and general technical knowledge (also briefly summarises the maths associated with the key models). Other books now await my curious eyes during my red wine fuelled "International Year of Astronomy" reading fest.
New cost $130 (Collins Booksellers)
Sell $70 plus postage.
2. The Final Theory: Rethinking Our Scientific Legacy (Mark McCutcheon, 2004, 424 pages, Paperback)
A novel and well argued book which proposes alternate models for gravity and the expansion of space. Some portions of the book would be best described as "pseudo-science", while most sections seem to be plausible and thought provoking. An entertaining and contentious read.
New cost $75 (Angus & Robertson)
Sell $40 plus postage.
Or both together for $90 plus postage.
Please send a PM if interested.
Cheers,
Jeff
