Ferrari California impounded under hoon legislation WA

Had a bit of a laugh when I saw this http://www.theage.com.au/national/sh...0714-djiz.html
, then I realised I was indirectly affected. I had been invited to a special showing at the car dealers late last week but it was postponed at the last minute....didn't realise why until now.....hope the motoring writer loses his job, licence and is publicly flogged....cases like this are reason to bring back corporal punishment

No we need are more roads that can cater for higher speeds a couple of autobahns would be nice

Why sell or buy a car that can do 200 mph but you can't in Australia (except NT I believe, do they still have the open speed limit)

In today's news:-

"A report on road deaths in 2007 shows the Northern Territory had by far the highest per capita rate of fatalities when compared with the rest of Australia and OECD countries.

The report by the federal Infrastructure department found there were 27 deaths per 100,000 people in the Northern Territory.

The next highest rate in Australia was in WA which recorded 11 deaths per 100 thousand people. Australia averaged almost eight.

Poland had the highest death toll rate of the OECD countries, with almost 15 people in every 100,000 killed in road accidents."

What about the countries with autobahns and good quality roads ????

I believe Tanzania has 34.4 per 100000 and would suffice it to say road deaths don't correlate to speed but more do with other contributing factors

such as

1) tiredness, alchohol, drugs
2) driver ability, inexperience, stupidity
3) quality of the roads,

etc,etc

often Govt/Police put too much emphasis on speed and not the underlying issues for road fatalities IMO

Nesti's punishment will be to ride one of the long flat stages of his beloved Tour de France on a cycle with a seat post but no seat.....
