Sunspot - Canon 300D - 10 Sep 05

G'day everyone,

Imaged these today between cloud breaks.
Using the 300D prime focused on Orion 80ED set at 400 ISO and 2000th Sec Exp.

what filter did you use? or does 1/2000 cut down the light?

i am loathed to try with the toucam due to heat???

Sorry guys, I used the JMB Type A Solar Filter.

WARNING: Never use or look through a telescope without an approved solar filter when viewing the sun. The camera's apature/exposure does not cut out the naked rays.

My recommendation is NEVER image the Sun (in white light) unless you use a full aperture solar filter - you will melt your camera!

You don't need a glass filter David, for $50 you can be setup with white light filter material for a 10" scope.. That's exactly what Ving just got.

The sun is just now getting into a good position, for me. I was just thinking about draggin' my 4.5" w/ solar filter to see what I can get with my D300.
