10000 count encoder

Hi all ,I purchased a 10000 count US digital encoder to replace an old 8192 count encoder but have no success in getting it to read. It sits on my 10 Dob. I have swapped laptops , flipped alt/az.positions to prove the leads.I even put the older operating encoder back , giving due adjustment to the planetarium program in regards to the encoder resolution difference and got it working fine. But have had no luck with this new encoder. If you have read this far and live on the North side of Brisbane around (Burpengary/Caboolture ) could I ask you if I could try this encoder in your set up to unequivicly prove it one way or the other .It is a S2-2500-250-I-N-D.

Check the pinouts are the same, this may be your problem.
May pay to check if the use the same method to read the data.
