I have not owned or seen a c6-n, but here is a link to a review -
http://www.derbyastronomy.org/CelestronC6NReview.htm
The reviewer gives a favourable impression.
I think if the optics are good - dos not matter how old a scope is, we had some really old miroscope(s) but they were beautiful to use if they were maintained. Sometimes old stuff is better than new junk.
The rpice seems ok for a 6" scope on a decent mount.
Get the guy to let you have a look through and show you how to use it first - before you commit to buy.

Assuming it comes like the one in the post above, and it all works fine, I'd say it's not a bad deal. But try and talk him down though, after all it they are on special at the moment, at least shipped out from the US. http://www.opticsplanet.net/clstrn-c6-n.html .

6 inches is a nice size and there is quite a bit to be seen through one, especially under a dark sky. I use one myself now as a backyarder and for short trips out. The secrets to good views in a reflector is perfect alignment of the mirrors and good eye pieces. The alignment you can do easily yourself with just a little reading and practice and if your serious about astronomy eyepieces are never expensive because you will have them for life and can move them from scope to scope.

Let us know how you get on with it.
