Meade 09x63

Hi everybody,

I've finally decided to go for a binocular before purchasing a telescope/dob, my budget is under $200.

Has anybody here use a Meade 09x63 binoculars? are you able to view the jupiter/saturn at all? I'm just trying to get an idea what i am expecting to see with these binoculars...

Would like to purchase them tommorow, but would like any suggestions from anyone here..

I have the Celestron 9X63. Great bino's you won't get too much magnification out of them,I can just make out 3 or 4 moons of Jup. and good on our moon. 63 gives great light grasp but they work best in dark sky's because of the large exit pupil. Great for panning around and about the largest you want without a mount. Hold them at the front end to keep your hands steady. I don't know about the Meade one's but I love my Celestron one,though they are dearer at about $500. The Meade one's are not water proof where the Celestron's are. Optically I can't comment on the Meade but mine are first class.

I agree with Matt, what he say's is pretty well right, i've got a pair of the Meade 9x63 i'm very happy with mine also, their next up from the 7x50's so there's just a bit more light that you get, and i'm pretty sure their rubber coated as well.Can definately recommend them.

I very nearly bought a pair of those from a reputable astro store in Sydney & was advised against it by the shop operatives
They pointed out that in most pairs something appeared to be loose inside although they were OK to look thru, they said that some pairs had been returned - I thought that was very honest of them
I shied away from the Meades because of this & ended up spending nearly $400 on a pair of Pentax 20 x60"s which are great but much harder to hold steady & have a smaller FOV
