How can I safely clean optics

I am about to purchase a second hand 10 " Mead LX200R. The catch is that the front correction lens has a buildup of dust (outdoor grit I expect) as a result of dirt buildup on dewy nights. It resists a blower brush.

There must come a point in the life of any such instrument where cleaning becomes necesary. How can I clean the correction lense without damaging the lens or coatings?

Any suggestions welcome

Derek

Derek,
UHTC cleaning solution is what you need, if you go here you will find it under cleaning aids.

Derek, as John said, stick with the Bintel snake oil but follow Dr Clay's cleaning instructions as listed by Matt. Mixing up a batch of Dr Clay's snake oil is an expensive exercise and you'll have enough to last a thousand lifetimes, it's cheaper to buy a bottle from Bintel (or any other reseller if they have an equivalent)
