A Better Suggestion Against Light pollution

Hi Guys.

Since i have been imaging, and gaining some experience i have noticed that the light pollution at my place is certainly causing me grief.

With the Tak and the 300mm lens i do use, The Hutech LPR filters with some success, however the longer exposures are just picking up to much stary light.

Other than the filter that i am using is there another that may be better, or am i stuck with the what i've got.

Sorry mate you're stuck unless you can persuade your local council to install lighting that floods downwards only with minimal spill into the night sky. I think you've got more chance with the rifle myself, as you're always gonna be observing through a dome of sodium light!

...although in our climate-change aware culture, perhaps the time is right to lobby for 'green' lighting which illuminates the area it's intended to without the 90% waste of energy disippating into our precious dark skies - wake up Australia!!! (actually I don't really know the % of light that goes upward but its minimization is desirable as it's just wasted energy).

lol bojan. im 2 suburbs away from you in wheelers hill. Totally agree. Our area is veryyy verry bad. Leon, if your getting light pollution in ballarat, you should come down to my area and image 22 km's from the main melbourne city.

Move to narrow field imaging. I find light pollution is hardest to work around in wide fields where it forms a gradient. Narrow field I really don't have any problems or complains. Sure, I might lose some detail but don't have significant problems - hey, I can still get mag 22, that ain't so bad. Long exposures of course (10, 20, 40min subs - arguably not worth going beyond 30min).
