accidently unscrewed eyepiece

Any suggestions? I have no clue how it pieces back together. Chalk it up to 'live and learn'. My kid decided to unscrew it.

It is a 19mm Televue Panoptic, there are 4 lenses and three rings of some sort. If I can't get any help then fine, I have a spare, but it would be nice not to have wasted a lens like this.

Thanks for the help.

Best thing to do is send it back to Televue, this is something they will
fix for a price. Plus you really need this done in a dust free chamber
that they have or you will probably find dust bits over the lens which
can be almost impossible to remove.

just my 2 cents worth, G' Luck!!

Hmm...by the time you pay to have it sent to TeleVue, rebuilt and sent back you may find it almost cheaper to go buy another one!

Sell it like it is, as is, and let someone else have a crack at it. There are only so many combinations possible..........

Not sure about that, I think from memory but dont quote me. Televue
charges about US$60.00 for the repair. Then it's just frieght. Still it is
probably worth emailing them about it.

I asked about Televue repair costs on cloudynights forums recently. The cost ranged between US$75 and US$100 (including a lens replacement), not including shipping. One problem people run into with reassembly is getting a lens stuck in the barrel then chipping the glass trying to get it unstuck.

Thanks for the replies. I am gathering that there are no diagrams or no one has accidentally done this before...I can't be the only moron!

As far as the 'only a certain amount of possibilities', easier said than done. There are a total of 7 pieces which can take a large amount of orders...needless to say, I have narrowed down which ones go on each end by looking at my spare. This leaves 5 more that can go in a number of orders..time to get out paper and pencil I guess

If any one has a diagram or can find one I would appreciate it. maybe on the other forums as I am unaware of any others and my google searches are unsuccessful.

figured it out! Wow, three days of tinkering and many hours of trials. I will charge anyone 10 dollars for my secrets.

Just kidding, I am a shrewd businessman, but not that shrewd. I am going to take it apart, go to a makeshift, 'dustless room', clean off fingerprints, take some pics and I'll post them later, and then get this thing back together. When I figured it out it seemed very obvious, but it took some thinking.

/proud

thanks guys!

You said you have another one, so you could always take that one apart and take notes!

In that case and you dont need to replace a lens it's probably cheaper than
US$60.00, I was just going off someone else that had the same problem. But
he was in the US. Also I cant recall if that included freight.

Not a good idea, mostly because they need to be put back together in a dust
free chamber which is how they are put together at the factory I believe.
You'll never put it back together without it being free of dust between the
lenses.

Hi Dubhe1,

I'd definitely recommend sending it back to Tele Vue.

When I was at the Texas Star Party in May, we were talking with Al Nagler
about customers who have done this type of thing. It's all too easy to put in
an element incorrectly. Al would say to the customer, "Have you taken this
thing apart?" and the customer would sheepishly say, "yes".
Al can spot in a heart-beat if it hasn't been re-assembled correctly.

Best Regards

Gary Kopff

Hi Dubhe1,

I hope if you ever sell it, you tell the propective buyer about this unfortunate
event. Which I'm sure you will. However I'll make a mental note to never buy
a secondhand 19mm pan
