NGC1365 - Trying my hand at an old favorite...

I've looked at images of 1365 for so long, but always felt I just didn't quite have the right setup to capture it... My last attempt was with an APS-C sensor and a 300mm f/2.8 camera lens, which, while it made for an interesting shot of the Fornax galaxy cluster, you could barely make out NGC1365 in that image.

This time around I thought I'd get a little closer.. I thought the 840mm focal length of the 120mm f/7 would be enough, but as it happens, I feel I could essentially double my focal length and still be a little short!

In any case, I've provided a 50% resolution crop, and a lower resolution full field image...

I'm quite happy with this from my Bortle 5 back yard.

Agree, I'd be happy with that as well, you have done a nice job on that one

Nicely processed! I like your subtle colours compared to the so often seen bordering on gaudy.

Lovely image yet again Alex!
Which sensor does the Player one Artemis-C Pro use?
I have a Neptune with the 178c sensor (from memory, crappy memory at that) but health and weather has restricted my playing.
But I do love the images posted here!

Thanks guys. The weather has put a real halt on progress with imaging of late - but its been nice to capture a few targets that I've been struggling to get!

Leo: The Artemis-C is an IMX294. this gives me 1.14"/px resolution, which at my location, seems to be about perfect!

Nice image Alex,
Proves you don’t need a big scope with long focal length to produce a fine galaxy image ( although it does help )
Well done !
