Saturn edge on

Hi everyone,
Saturn taken with my 10"newt last night /best 20% of five min SER;
3x barlow with Svbony305.
Bit grainy as I had to boost the gain to capture some colour & detail.
Steady seeing just before it reached the zenith.
Was nice to see it appear with this edge on phase of the rings.

Enjoy the weekend!

Attractive image. Scaled nicely to balance the seeing. Hope you get some more opportunities soon.

Thanks Ross, yes always a challenge to fight the seeing conditions and produce a result worth keeping. I took my chance given the “ long weekend” here in footy central, hoping for some clear nights to try once more.

Very kind Dave thankyou. Yes the detail can be hidden amongst the turbulence of the vid stack but careful layering of multiple grabs can greatly improve the overall image quality. My scope is always hard to tame with collimation altering repeatedly during the night/ but I have introduced a primary mirror fan to help and it may have calmed the atmospherics in the tube slightly. I’ll keep looking for that night of perfect seeing…

Yes, agreed with what's been said so far. A great shot of the jewel of planets in it's current phase. You took full advantage of a rare clear night here in Melbourne! Well done.
