Meteor Over Melbourne

Parents felt a loud thud just after midnight. Turned out to be a meteor.

I was fast asleep!

Putting the bins out last night and I saw what seemed to be a slow moving meteorite, it moved from ŅE across the sky to SE at about 20 degrees above the horizon in a gentle arc. I am in Adelaide, so it must have been very impressive in Melbourne! It was about 11:27 pm here.

It turned out to be space junk we heard the boom just after midninght, it sounded like someone slamming the boot of their car right outside our window. I went out to investigate, all quiet no car no nothing just a still cool night

Turns out it was a stage from a Russian Soyuz rocket launching a communications satellite
