4-m Scopedome

Hi,

We have for sale a 4-m diameter Scopedome which has been used as a remote observatory since 2014. Unfortunately, due to the death of the owner of the property where the observatory is sited we now have to remove it.

The dome is situated in the Margaret River region of SW Western Australia. The purchaser would need a truck (or a couple of large trailers) to remove, plus a couple of friends (or a small crane) to help dismantle it. (I will also be able to assist in removing it.) The fibreglass is still in excellent condition. It consists of 7 large pieces and a couple of smaller pieces, the largest of which can be carried by 3 people, although 5 makes it much easier due to the awkward shape.

The dome housed a 0.5-m Alluna RC on a Paramount ME2 to give you some idea of what can be fitted into it.

Please PM me for more details and pictures, including of construction, if you want to know more.

Please make a reasonable offer via PM if you are interested in purchasing this dome. As a guide, a new dome from Scopedome Australia costs $59,000 - see: https://www.scopedome.com.au/
All offers considered, so if you want a permanent home for your telescope then have a think about this.

Bump.

We're not after an excessive amount for this dome, just something sensible relative to its cost. We need to vacate the property soon.

So how much are you asking for it?

Make us an offer. A new one will cost you $59,000. 50% for a second hand dome still in very good condition with decades more life in it may seem justified. If you're interested then make an offer that's not stupidly low but reasonable.

Scopedome

I'm afraid my budget currently extends to "if it's going to be scrapped otherwise and you're just after something..."

I've got plans to build a decent observatory with a roll off roof for my block in Toodyay, but my total budget is nowhere near what you might be after.
