Likely new Sony 61mp sensor

A new Sony camera is being released on the 26th and its 95% likely it has a new BSI 61mp sensor.

The current ZWO6200 and QHY600 cameras use the 61mp sensor used in the Sony A7RIV camera per the Sony Alpha Rumours site.

The rumour is the new sensor has improved light gathering performance. That will be interesting to monitor over the next week.

Nope, it's the same sensor. But Sony are claiming their new camera has a more powerful processor that enables better performance from that sensor.

I guess we don't get that processor when we get a ZWO6200/QHY600.

I hadn't heard about that sensor, I'll be interested to see how it stacks up in some real-world tests. Many thanks for the info.

It's the same sensor as used in the QHY600 and ZWO6200. The new Sony A7Rv camera uses this same unchanged sensor it's just that the A7R5 has a more powerful processor so it brings out more of the performance that was untapped with this 61mp full frame sensor.

I don't think that will be implemented in QHY/ZWO cameras as - unless I am mistaken, these cameras do not use the Sony processors.
