Lagoon and Triffid Nebulea

Lagoon and Triffid Nebulea wide image.

Had an issue with guiding, which I didn't realise till it was
far too late to stop.

Tried a high ISO short exposure to help keep noise down.

Taken on a pretty good morning (3.00 am start), 30.05.22.

138 x 30 seconds
Canon 1100D Modded
Optolong L Enhance
Orion EON 110
Skywatcher HEQ5 Pro
Guided and dithered

Stacked in ASI Air Pro
Prosessed in SiRiL and Windows 7 Gallery.

First attempt with SiRiL, results are quite pleasing.

Thanks for looking.

Paul.

Paul,
Nice work , and excellent framing , just squeezed them in hey
Well done !!

The L Enhance and more so the L Extreme does let in more good signal when you push those longer subs, maybe for next time. Luckily you don’t have to worry about Skyglow down south under Bortle 3 , so not too many restrictions , you can definitely afford to open the throttle a bit.

Your imaging is improving all the time this year, La Niña has almost gone, so some clear cold nights ahead , enjoy ……

Cheers
Martin

Thanks Alex, Peter and Martin for your words of encouragement.

Much appreciated.

Alex, yep, pretty happy with the results especially with the DSLR.

As Martin said, just sqeezed them both into frame.

I cropped a small area of the sides, as that was suggested in the
SiRiL workflow, though there were no artefacts.

Peter, nights here are still hit and miss for me.

I know for fact you have had better conditions than me,
but I take the opportunity when its there.

One thing that does trouble me about this Lagoon image is
that it bears an uncanny resemblance to the late John Elliot's
characteristics shown in The ABC show 'Rubbery Figures'.

Pic for reference.

You may never look at it quite the same
way ever again !

Paul.
