New 10" Dob

Hi all,
I have not posted for a while, it has been cloudy and some of that stuff that falls from the sky has occured, I think its called rain.

I have just returned from the Bintel shop in Melbourne with a 10" Dob with a 10:1 crayford focuser, X5 powermate and a few other goodies on back order.

The help at the store is great and anyone in Melbourne thinking of getting a scope should at least go and talk with them.

Anyway now the wait begins for the clouds to part long enough to use the use scope. .

I also attended the Public Night at the Mornington Peninsula Astronomical Society on Friday night just gone, unfortunately it was very cloudy but probably just as well because if I had seen thru their 18" scope I would be ruined for life. A very interesting and well run evening.

What can I say Wooooooooow The clouds were scattered so I had some limited chances to view thru the new scope.
After using a 6" with poor opticts on and off for 20 years this new scope has blown my mind.
Saturn, even though seeing was poor the ring division and the shadow of the planet on the rings wow.
M104 that I found with the help of this forum, it looks like a sombrero and Eta Carina the dust lane and all those stars thru the monster 32mm 2" eyepeice.
Then the clouds rolled in.
All I can say is this is a great scope for the level that I am at with my adventures in astronomy.

Great comment and attitude to the hobby. The biggest and best is not the best always if you are not ready for it.

Keep looking up
