HEQ5 RA Stopped

Hi Legends, Last night my HEQ5 Pro RA stopped. I can hear the motor running and it doesn't sound like it is under any undue stress. I can help it the scope along the Ra with a little bit of help by my hand.
The mount had the Rowen belt drive mod, about 6 months ago.
Any ideas, before I break open the tool kit? Backlash may need to be adjusted? RA motor problem?
Thanks for any ideas or if this has happened to others.

Loose Pulley

Maybe one of the belt pulleys is slipping on the motor or mount drive shaft?

Most definitely the grub screws have come loose on most likely the motor.
I had the same thing happen once with the Rowan belt kit.
I since loctite the grubs and hopefully no more issues.

Tension on the belts is maintained by 3 screws that locate and secure the motors inside the mount head. If one or more of these has come loose, the belt may have lost tension and be slipping. The other possibility canvassed in other replies is the small grub srews holding the pulleys on their shafts.

I would suggest removing the plate covering the motors. Run the mount using the hand controller and drive it in both Dec and RA. You'll quickly see whether there is slippage on the belts or the small gears and be able to diagnose it from there.

Peters suggestion was going to be mine. Take the covers off and run the drives manually and you should be able to see pretty quickly where the issue is.

All good advice but also check your clutch it may just need tightening
I was always going to replace the existing gear cover with Perspex as I thought it would be nice way to check the gears...but I haven't.

If the belt is slipping, you will definitely hear it.
Sounds like a card on bike spokes.

I had an HEQ5 that had the spur gear fail on the shaft of the Dec head - spun no problems, but the peening of the gear to the output shaft had simply failed - the peen divot was VERY shallow.

Maybe Loctite the grub screws on the Rowen replacement and try again.
