M1 The Crab Nebula

I'm way out of my league with this one, but this is a PB for me on this object so I'm fairly happy with it.

M1 the crab nebula. This is an interesting object that started from a daylight supernova in 1054AD.

From Wiki "The Crab Nebula (catalogue designations M1, NGC 1952, Taurus A) is a supernova remnant in the constellation of Taurus... The nebula was the first astronomical object identified with a historical supernova explosion."

GSO 10" F4 Newtonian, full spectrum modified Canon 1100D, 169 x 30 seconds, HEQ5 pro unguided.

As a child, growing up in North America, this was my favorite object.

Your image does it justice, congrats.

Yes indeed Kevin, a great shot of this baby from down under I've always been too chicken to point my scope so low

As Mike says, I’ve been too scared to even attempt it so considering where it is, it’s a good shot

Thanks Mike and Colin. It's a bit higher up for me than you guys. I can only go a tad lower myself before I run into trees. My next observatory will be on stilts.

Nicely done Kevin, I had a go at M1 on Sat night but it didn't turn out anywhere near as good as yours. I am rapidly getting left behind without a modded camera.

I think removing the filter speeds it up also. I'm quite happy with the camera. It's not cooled but when do we get clear nights in summer anyway?
