Anyone notice Megrez?

Hi,

Maybe its me but Megrez in Ursa Major seems to have significantly dimmed. Am I just seeing things or can someone verify the dimming?

hmm.... no one responding, I went out and knowing Megrez is mag 3.31 and my naked eye max at my location is mag 6 I estimate that it dropped to 5.2. I would like to know if others have seen this drop tonight. I have checked all my ref. material and even though it does have a encircling debris field none of my ref material has noted such a dimming as I have seen tonight. Any visual conformation would be appreciated.

Megrez is not easily visible from Australia... Maybe from northern parts.

Thanks, yes we northerns follow you're site well and enjoy the contributions. I was hoping some of the other northerners here in NA would notice the post and reply. You guys have a great site. Thanks for getting back to me.

True. Even then, you need a really tall step-ladder.

Or be anywhere north of the 33 south...

Should be easily visible from Alice Springs, difficult, but not impossible from Siding Springs...
