Any star gazing area suggestion near BM / Jenolan Area?

Planning to have a day trip in KAT/BM/Blackheath area this weekend and just wonder if anyone has a good place for star gazing place and I can take few pics (no telescope this time)?

Thanks

Hi David,

There's a few public areas you can go to up in the Blue Mountains:

* Hargraves Lookout
* Mt Blackheath Lookout.
Both of these are accessed via the same road from Blackheath, and fork in the road leads to one or the other. Hargraves is more open to the horizon, but also a whole lot more exposed - if there is a blow on coming from the west, it is a very, very, VERY cold place. Mt Blackheath is more sheltered and so more restricted viewing, but that's the trade off. Take care driving here between sunset and dawn as there are roos around - I had my closest shave with roos and my car here.

* Lookout at the end of Grand Canyon Rd, Medlow Bath. A little known spot. Biggest drawback hear is it is very little visited and the track can be narrow from overgrowing bushes. Road takes you right past Katoomba Airfield. This location doesn't have a formal name that I know of, so I can only give you its co-ordinates: 33°39'19.0"S 150°19'52.0"E . Very isolated place.

As with all public areas, you are best to go with a mate.
