Realistic Pricing

l just received a Peterson E-Z Focusing kit for my LX- 200 in the kit was 2 bearings, a washer, an allen key and some grease.
The bearings were packed in a bag marked Timken and had a part number stamped on the bag, after fitting the kit which l must say made a great difference to the focusing of the scope l thought l would ring my local bearing supplier and get a retail price on the bearings, $4.10 each + GST, price of the kit from the supplier, $65.00, l didn't realize a small packet of grease cost that much.

Mick,

You must have missed the comments I made yesterday about anything from a "telescope" store or with a meade or celestron sticker on it costing a lot more than it was worth.

Arn't you forgetting the cost of the washer Mick...lol

What does the E-Z focus do...dont you have a micro-focuser.....

I have seen the thick washer that just goes over the focuser knob to give you a little more control......but I just leave it up to the micro-focuser.

The E-Z Focuser replaces the nylon washers with needle roller bearings to stop the backlash in the focuser which it does very effectively, my scope now has pinpoint focusing. My scope is the LX-200 Classic and does not have an electronic focuser some things will still have to be done the old fashioned way.
