It's Milky Way Season!

Drying my eyes about not being able to attend IISAC 2015, I dragged my tired frame out of bed at 2:30am this morning, not wanting to pass up the opportunity of the brightest Milky Way, combined with no moon and the Galactic Core being visible.
It's a pity that the care is to the east at the moment and that it gets a bit lost in the Sydney light dome, but Im pretty pleased none-the-less.
I'm also assuming that the glow to the south (middle of the shot) is a really bright airglow too :-)
Pulpit Rock, Mount Victoria, Blue Mountains

Canon 6D
ISO 6400
Samyang 14mm
f2.8
20 seconds
2 rows of 8 verticals
Edited in Lightroom, assembled via MSFT ICE.

That's really well done Andrew.

I see there is still a lot of airglow left over from the Aurora the other night. I took some shots the 2nd night after the aurora and the sky was vividly green.

Greg.

Thanks for posting, Andrew. That's a great foreground you've got there and a wonderful MW arch.

You're a better man than I - two mornings in a row I set my alarm to get up early and try to get away from Sydney's light pollution, but with big days ahead at work I had to go back to sleep. I've got the 6D and Samyang 14mm, too, and am very happy with the combo.

Well, Im lucky enough to be 2 mins away from this location, so that helps a lot.

Yeah so am I. Every time I put the 14mm on the camera, well it is pretty much on there all the time, I am amazed at the field of view.
I will usually underestimate the FoV and get my camera bag in a few shots ;-)

Thanks Rod and Mike
Part of us moving to the Blue Mountains was to have scenes like this at our doorstep
