Replacement O-Ring bumpers on SW Dob

Hi all,

The o-rings on my dob perished and fell off - exact size (measured) replacements have been sourced, but do you fit them at A (in the groove) or B (above the flange) - see photo.

They had fallen off so I could not check the original position - nothing in the manual either. In the groove (A) seems to do nothing, above (B) is preventing the spring clips from engaging.

Maybe its just a matter of them needing to flex a bit with use?

I'd welcome some wisdom.

Thanks.
Darren.

Hi Darren,

Just had a look at my DOB and the O-ring definitely sits in the groove, and yes it seems to do nothing.

I thinks its only there to protect the OTA from getting scratched by that extension tube.

Regards

Bill

Haha! Well there you go.
So much for me thinking they were for some kind of vibration cushioning!

Thanks Bill.

Darren.
