Lake Chaffey Alternate Venue August New Moon

I am starting this thread as an alternative venue for weather affected locations like Bretti, etc further south during the August 2014 New Moon period.

For the last week in August Lake Chaffey seems likely to clear more quickly as shown by this forecast:

http://www.accuweather.com/en/au/tam...st/12773?day=6

If you look at Friday the 29th through Sunday the 31st the weather looks great.

However, at that point in the week the moon is setting later and later (about 9:50pm on Saturday I think), making the useful period shorter each night (albeit the moon is very small about 1/8 max).

It is a longer drive for sure (than Bretti) but the recently opened Newcastle Expressway cuts at least 30 minutes out of the trip up the Hunter Valley.

Alternatively, Bretti is expected to clear later this coming week and the Gloucester forecast looks good for Saturday the 30th and Sunday the 31st (maybe not so good for Friday the 29th).

I'd prefer to go to Bretti if possible but its too early to tell at this point.

Hi Glen. As I said in the Bretti thread, I think Bretti will be a write off all week. I have been there in similiar weather as we are seeing now and the cloud and rain just keep rolling in from the ocean which is not that far away as the crow flies.

Chaffey Dam is another 100km inland so doesn't get impacted the same way. I may head there around mid week, depending on how the weather plays out.
