The Hoon Lagoon

Managed to work on 8 subs out of a possible 15 due to lack of seeing conditions & Guide star Dropouts, using the Orion TOAG doesnt allow for many guide stars, tho realising should pann the rig about for a stronger star - Impatient fella !

Subs were 480secs, 1.1hrs through the 10" F/4.7 Newt on Neq6p and Starshoot guiding through PHD - the one with-out the graph. have recently installed PHD2 but wasnt connecting to camera ? work it out later ...
Camera was the QHY 10 OSC at -35, Gain 40 and OffSet 125

Image Pocessing notes ; Lacking Some weird stars happening, Also Coma particularly evident Lower right corner - hense - collimation out as well

Hope you enjoy the image all the same - not sure about the color for the majority here tho I dont mind it

Lots of detail there. Yeah it's pretty red, like when I shoot with my full spectrum camera. How does one balance that with an OSC CCD?

Cheers Kevin,
Im really not sure how to ballance it in a tutorial manner, Im not even sure this is a near proper color ? tho during the processing , I find lifting (in this case) the 'Power Slider' in Red Channel carefully on its own at times, only once or twice throung many iterations of RGB levels - and also mucking with the curves - bit of everything rally ..

Cheers

It's pretty much how my Lagoon turned out with my FS Nikon. I don't know if there is a "correct" colour after seeing all the different Lagoons on here.

Hey Bob, good effort! It's hard doing the colour combination, and sometimes it takes me 8 or more attempts before I'm happy (but even then, the colours are still wrong or over cooked!).

Cheers,

Steve

Looks similar yeah, I often go on the web photos and surprised at the different renditions in particular the colors, yeas there are the mono variations which are real cool . Ive only used the One Shot Color a few time and hope to better learn processing them as time goes

Thanx Steve,
I dont Colour combine as such, tho with the one shot color I do ballance the RGB channels before spitting it out of DSSker - then I have the Auto saved Image and the ballanced one to muck with - doubt im keen to go 8 times tho, too much dedication for this duck - do a quick 'similar' process of the both - choose between the two and Go For It
All the best ...

What everyone else is saying: Good Detail and I suppose more useful subs would have upped that further.
Don't actually mind the red

Great to see you back imaging Bob!!

Looks like you had loads of fun!
Really tests the patience out huh.

Detail there for sure, so much more difficult with a mono setup to process, than my old DSLR.

Cheers,

Justin.

Cheers for that Trevor
Need more care in executing this new system, specially the OAG, have only just figured getting close enough focus but need some finer tweeking for better light point for PHD - enjoying the challange, yep

I must read threads properly!

Thought your camera was mono.

Cheers,

Justin.
