Processing Challenge LCent X2 NII

Here is a stack of 39 frames x 16 minutes upsized by a factor of two before stacking in 3nm NII. 55MB

http://d1355990.i49.quadrahosting.co...3/LCent_x2.zip

It is a totally untouched 16 bit fits file.

Do your best or worst.

Show me your results please!

Wow! What an awesome image

Here is my humble attempt at processing using Nebulosity and Aperture.

Cheers

This was done purely with level and gamma adjustment in Gimp 2.9.1. That is a rather flakey beta of the deep colour version that will be Gimp 2.10.

If you want to try out the beta, DO NOT interrupt it while it is processing. It will almost certainly hang.

Very Good data in this image Good work Bert, I enjoyed playing with this data I am still learning processing techniques so this image might not suit every ones taste, it is amazing how many ways you can process the data.

This is how I attempted the Processing

A: Converted to linear tif file in Deep Sky Stacker 7898x7817
B: Binned in Gimp to 2048 x 2027
C: Processed in Startools
1.Develop then gradient wipe
2.HDR (optimise then reveal core)
3.Starmask inverted then Sharpen
4.Life (multiply gamma correct at 15%)
5.Develop then de-noise and bin 1024x1014
D: Curves and levels edit in Gimp then converted to 194kb jpg at 65% detail.

hi bert,

here is my attempt!
I've never touched any narrowband nor monochrome before so was interested to see what i'd come up with. so not sure anybody should be following my example!

Opened in astraimage, converted to tiff, photoshop, curves and levels. Some highlight adjustment and some slight sharpening.

had trouble getting it at scale under 200kb.
can upload the bigger image to flickr if you want a closer look.

cheers - and thanks I can see myself getting into narrow band although I have never attempted blending, that I imagine is going to require a new computer!

Rusty
