Stellar cauldron

Hi guys,

Earlier this month I took a quite unusual panoramic view at the beautiful night sky in Chilean Andes. The field of view is actually more that 360 degrees, which allows one to see not just starry sky, but the surroundings as well. Remarkably, the Milky Way has already set and what you see is just dark sky - a true window to our Universe. One cal also notice faint elongated bluish glow spanning across the sky - this is so called Zodiacal stripe (reflection of the sunlight on tiny particles in the Solar system plane). Magellanic Clouds are also visible on the right.

You can see the high-resolution version right here:

What a fantastic image, and the colours are great. That Zodiacal stripe is not often seen, it is much fainter than the usual Zodiacal light cone, very impressive.

Thanks, guys ! This is not a typical landscape shot, but I like the perspective. For this image I used Canon 6D and Nikkor 14-24 lens.

Well, actually the field of view of this image exceeds 360 degrees - this is a panorama, not a single shot. Therefore, I was always behind the camera while I was taking images.
